Savvy is a book that I really love. It is about a 12/13-year-old girl named Mibs. Magic powers (savvies) run down in her family, and her two older brothers Fish and Rocket have savvies too, Fish controlling weather and Rocket conducting electricity. You get your savvies when you are 13 and Mibs’s birthday was just around the corner when her dad gets into a horrible accident. When Mibs goes to a church to celebrate her birthday and the newcoming of her savvy, she secretly catches a bus to try and get to Salina Hope (the hospital that Mibs’s father is at), but she instead goes the wrong way into a different state with Fish, Samson (Mibs’s younger brother), and two of Mibs’s friends: Will and Bobbi. When Mibs consults Lester (the bus driver), that they were going the opposite direction, Lester steers back towards Salina and on the way back, they meet Lill, who’s car broke down. They drop Lill off to the restaurant she worked at, but she got fired by Ozzy, Lill’s boss. At the restaurant, Mibs realizes that she can read people’s minds. Lill stays with the crew until Lester meets again with Carlene (his former girlfriend). Carlene told Lester that she despised him, and the crew left, until they realized that they forgot Samson at Carlene’s place. Mibs’s mind reading skills helped Mibs know where Samson was, and at the end, Carlene was arrested because she locked Samson in a panel. Mibs goes to Salina after her parents picked her up and she sees her dad. At the end of the book, Mibs saves her dad, and they all live happily ever after.
